Our Story

From Texas to Normandy

Handcrafted piece from the studio

Impertinent isn't just a name. It's a design brief. The objects here are made from materials that weren't supposed to be beautiful: poured concrete, salvaged and scrap wood, the kind of stuff you'd find on a job site, not a shelf.

Who: An impertinent data analyst from Texas who decided that starting completely over sounded like a good idea. New country, new language, new career as a technical writer. And now a new adventure with Impertinent Design Studio.

What: Handcrafted objects in concrete and wood. Made to take up space and not apologize for it.

Where: A fixer-upper in the Normandy countryside. Mesnil-en-Ouche, France. Roughly two hours from Paris, in case you were wondering.

When: It started with a Cricut and a tendency to give handmade gifts. The ambition kept escalating. It still does.

Why: The obsession with France started in childhood. The obsession with making things started after the move. It turns out both fit better in the Normandy countryside than a city apartment.
